God's Word is confirmed in the record of Bible prophecy. Its validity is substantiated through mumerous discoveries in the Middle East.

1. Discovery of King Tutankhamen's tomb in Egypt-An 8-year search by archaelogist, Howard Carter, bore fruit in 1922 when the tomb, sealed for 3, 250 years, was found and opened. This tomb with its 5, 000 priceless objects confirms what the Bible declared about the fabulous wealth of Egipt.

2. Discovery of the Rosetta Stone-A stone about four feet high with a message in picture-writing called hieroglyphics, a cursive written language called demotic and Greek. This discovery in Egipt by Napoleon's invading forces in 1799 led to the unlocking of the hieroglyphic and demotic languages by Jean-Francois Champollion in 1822. Egypt's monuments began to speak, as it were, and eloquently confirm declarations of Scripture. Just one example is the Bible's mention of a Hittite nation, thought by the scoffers to be a myth. The hieroglyphics confirm the Hittites were a powerful nation that attacked Egypt long ago.

3. The story of Joseph-Joseph sold as a slave, later imprisoned, and eventually elevated to second-in-command to the Pharaoh of Egypt, predicted seven years of plenty followed by seven years of famine. The skeptics laughed at the validity of Genesis 41, but a message chiseled in Egyptian rock confirms the biblical story. Ancient grave paintings in Egypt also testify that the Bible is true.

4. The city of Petra-A city carved out of rose-red stone and hidden in the hills southwest of Aman, Jordan for nearly 4, 000 years. Petra was a city of the Edomites, descendents of Esau. Because of their rebellion against God, Scripture declared it would be made "desolate"-no one would restore it. For 4, 000 years Petra's once magnificent buildings have testified to the accuracy of God's Word.

5. Ancient Babilon-South of Baghdad are the ruins of the greatest ancient capital of the world. In spite of its size, its mighty walls of defense, its 20-year food suply, and its boast of no defeat, God said, "Babylon shall become a heap. "Jeremiah 51:37. "It will never be inhabited. "Isaiah13:20. God's word is true.

6. Discovery of the Dead Sea Scrools-The oldest manuscripts of the Old Testament written 140 years before Christ. Carefully compared with our Old Testament in use today, we can have confidence the Bible has been preserved as God's Word to you and me.
