7. Why Our Streets Are Unsafe

What is behind the crime and violence in this world? What`s behind the ethnical and sexual imorality in society?
Does the Bible have an answer for the problems of our world?
The Bible pulls the curtain aside and indentifies why our streets have become unsafe. Listen: "He who trust in his own heart is a fool." Proverbs 28:26. And again, "There is a way that seem right to a man, but its end is the way of death." Proverbs  16:25. When men and women ignore the standards of God`s word and result is crime, violence, imorality an death.
God speaks to this generation through His Ten Commandment Law wich stands "fast forever and ever." Psalm 111:8. His Law is the basis for morality. It defines sin - 1 John 3:4. The Law reveals what is right and what is wrong. God`s Law is "perfect." Psalm 19:7  - a perfect transcript of His holy character. It is a perfect foundation of right doing in all ages of this world.
God`s ten commands, recorded in Exodus 20, speak with special relevance to this generation.

1."You shall have no other gods before me." God comes before cars, houses and sports heroes.
2."You shall not make for yourself a carved image." God wants us to worship Him.
3."You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain." God, Jesus, Christ - names to reverence - should not be disrespected in careless oaths and swearing.
4."Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy." Six days are for us but the seventh is for God.
5."Honor your father and mother." In a time of independence and selfishness, the commandment is still relevant.
6."You shall not murder." At a time when bombs explode, guns rip people apart and abortions become commonplace - the commandments speak with relevance.
7."You shall not commit adultery." Our generation is plagued with immorality that is destroying homes and lives.
8."You shall not steal." God commands us to respect that which belongs to others.
9."You shall not bear false witness." Lying may be fashionable but it is sin.
10."You shall not covet." Desiring what belong to others sets the stage for stealing it.

God`s Ten Commandment Law speak with remarkable relevance to our society! The Bible still speaks - calling us back to obedience, back to the Law of GOd, back to morality. Our streets would be safe today if we would accept and practice the words of Jesus, "If you love Me, keep My commandments." John 14:15.

Invitation: Come to Jesus just now. Give your heart and life to Him. Tell Him, "I do love You, Lord, and I want to follow You and be obedient to Your will revealed through the Ten Commandment Law.
